Project Management/Illustration takes the “Squirreliness” out of Drawing Process

Lean Meeting #4 featured our Technical Illustration Team. In attendance were Don, Adam S, Robin M, and Tyler G.

Their team initiative, developed from a brainstorming session, is to take the manual calculations and data, based on the information shown in the style book, and convert it to an excel spreadsheet for easier, faster, and more accurate drawings! This could reduce the chance of a mistake by up to 25% immediately! And, by using drop down menus, there will be more consistency in drawings and information. Additionally they’ll be able to copy the parts list, with dimensions, directly from Excel and paste them in to Corel Draw. A huge time saver!

While two sign systems are close to being finalized as we speak (Trial), the team anticipates it will take roughly 2 hours per system to create. With so much going on, they’re hoping to complete a new system or two per week moving forward. Their next step is to complete a few more, then review with Jeff O, Tonya, Shawn, and Adam G to confirm format and information is acceptable. This could be done as early as July 1st!
