- Jeff O eliminated 80% of the cardboard and plastic sheeting in shipping by designing “grooved crates” made of wood. Great reduction in cost, waste and damage!
- Todd created a visual pallet sizing system on the floor. Color coded and sized to perfection for easier and faster creation of custom shipping crates.
- Jarett eliminated the need for steel quart cans for mixing paints. Big deal? $10/day – $50/week – $200/month in savings! Yes Big Deal!
- Jason & Jeff O created a new fixture for precise drilling into Perma-Banner Mounting Extrusions, eliminating manual measuring and numbering each part. Now all holes are identical and interchangeable.
- Another similar type approach was used for identical hole placement for mounting of the 3” and 4” peaked and ball caps to the posts.
- Eliminates a time waster for installers and an easier manufacturing process for us!
- Chad created a bin system for requesting shipping labels. This avoids confusion that was found in the original process
- Jeff O worked with Joyce to eliminate a huge monthly expense in garbage/waste management. How huge? $1000-$1500/month!
- Richie developed a color coded “by size” bolt cabinet. Very organized, easy to use, saves time hunting for the right size.
- Jeff O moved the Metal Hopper to just behind the shear for the ease of throwing scrap away eliminating numerous travel time for the scrap, and for the person carrying the scrap.
- Shawn & Jarett implemented the use of reusable bungee straps instead of tape to keep piles on racks safe from falling over. Saves on tape, and thus money, and is more safe all around.
- Todd and Chris decided that plastic totes for stock of shipping supplies should include felt for posts, foam pouches, pre-cut foam for packing and various wood components would clean up and organize the area quickly and simply
- Al created a shelf for the Plasma Cutter to keep it off of the ground thus keeping it safe from people tripping over it
- Shawn put earplugs at each saw area, which is faster than needing to travel to/from one central location
- Shawn also put air-lines near each saw allowing for ongoing cleanliness
- Eric & Jarett recommended using a drawer system under the wiping table which can store all hardware and tools that are used on a daily basis. Keeps area looking less cluttered and items are more easily accessible
- Todd recommended that there be a measurement extension bar for the wood saw instead of using a tape measure for ease of use, consistency and accuracy
