MIS “Geeking-Out” Over Their Lean Initiative

Larry and Tori presented a LEAN initiative with YOU in mind! Welcome to SYSTEMS ANALYSIS! Beginning September 1st the team will be working their way from department to department reviewing what your processes are, the type of data you keep on spreadsheets, or copy from DMS on to spreadsheets, and then developing DMS so that you can easily track your process and/or maintain and access the same data there. This is a strong follow up idea to what PAINT presented last week. DMS is our Data Management System. All data should be in DMS. We are modernizing HOWARD to current MIS/IT standards.

To assist, please start keeping track of all data driven spread sheets so that when called upon, you can efficiently and effectively review with the MIS team. This way too, there is one central location for ALL things Howard!

Examples may include:

• Reports
• Contacts
• Schedules
• Analytics
• Histories
• Forecasts

Depending on the process or the amount of data and how you use it, each department could see a huge increase in productivity within a limited amount of time after your meeting with MIS. This initiative does not replace the ISSUES functionality of DMS, but rather adds to the interaction the MIS Team and DMS will have in your specific area.

By working together with your department the MIS team is hopeful it can save you time, steps, or inefficiencies, turning them instead in to productive hours.
